Welcome to our new AJH website

Getting ready for Christmas in 2003, I was 9 years old and I started to wonder why people tend to be more generous during the Thanksgiving-Christmas holidays. My parents tried to explain to me that it was part of the holiday spirit people get into. Even after that explanation, it just didn’t make sense to me. So I told my parents that I wanted to change that; that I wanted to remind people to be giving even after the holidays are gone.

My mom and I went downstairs to the computer and we researched a lot of charity websites and I chose the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Then we decided on a name and what to sell, and from that moment AJH Kids started our journey selling peppermint pies. In the span of three years we raised over $24,800 for the Center and we were so excited to bring every penny of that down to their headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.

Now we are back and bigger then ever! We have decided to switch gears and now we are donating to the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation. We also have Royal Ice Cream of Manchester making our famous peppermint pies. As a bonus we are also now in alliance with the Connecticut Brain Tumor Alliance.

Please join us in helping me and my sisters, Julia and Hannah (AJH), to meet our goal this year. With your help we can really make a difference in the life of another child. The pies are delicious, memorable, and a great frozen treat, but the result is even better.

Thank you,
Abbie Shimer
